Day 1 – Transfer from Kampala to Mgahinga

On the first day, after your breakfast, you will be picked by our guide from your place accommodation and embark on our approximately 9 hours to Mgahinga National Park in South Western Uganda. Whilst on the journey, we shall make a stop for lunch in Kayabwe and also take some photos on the Uganda Equator the line that partitions the world into the southern and the northern hemisphere. We shall continue our journey and we shall arrive in evening for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay as we prepare Mgahinga Gorilla trekking experience the following day.

Day 2: Gorilla or Golden Monkey Tracking

We shall have an early morning breakfast then after proceed to a specified meeting point for pre-briefing before we make our final destination in the jungles of Mgahinga to trek mountain. Whilst on the activity, we shall trek through the forests and bamboo cover as we search for of gorillas. Gorilla tracking is a very physical activity and you might get tired along the way but believe me, there is nothing greater than gazing into mountain gorillas as you take photographs and make physical gestures with them.

Option 2: Trek through the bamboo forests in search of the rare golden monkey, endemic to this region. Pass spectacular vegetation and scenery on your way.

Return for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Batwa Cultural Trail

Learn about the lives of the indigenous Batwa on the Batwa Trail. Local guides take you through the 8km gentle trail in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, demonstrating their traditional ways of life along the way, including hunting, gathering honey, fire making and fetching water. The trail culminates with a moving performance in the Garama Cave, an important spiritual and cultural site for the Batwa.

Day 4: Summit a volcano

After Breakfast, climb up Mt Gahinga, Mt Sabinyo, or Mt Muhavura volcanoes bordering Uganda, Congo and Rwanda, and on a clear day the peaks offer astounding views of all three countries.

Day 5: Proceed to Lake Mburo via Lake Bunyonyi

Return to Kampala or travel to Lake Mburo, stopping at the scenic Lake Bunyonyi for lunch and beautiful views.

Tour inclusions: Gorilla permit per person to be secured and paid for in advance, Accommodation and meals as per the itinerary, all tour activities as detailed in the itinerary, Park Entry Fees, Transport (in a 4×4 vehicle), Drinking water during the safari, Professional English speaking guide/driver and Touring
